Growing
up
in
and
around
Philadelphia
in
the
late
60's
it
wasn't
until
I
transferred
from
a
Christian
school
to
an
alternative
high
school
with
idealistic
young
teachers
that
I
was
turned
on
to
making
art
in
all
sorts
of
mediums
from
ceramics
to
painting.
Once
the
door
was
open
to
me
I
never
looked
back,
loved
more
than
anything
to
create
something
of
beauty
out
of
the
raw
materials
of
paint,
clay,
fabric.
Still
do.
Antioch
Collage
had
a
work/study
system
that
introduced
me
to
artists
and
craftsmen
all
over
the
country
and
in
Europe
as
well
as
instilling
a
love
of
travel
and
experiencing
different
cultures
and
peoples.
Graduate
school
in
Oklahoma
gave
me
the
space
and
time
to
paint
big
work
on
canvas
and
installations
on
site
in
the
windy
flatness
out
on
the
edge
of
town.
After
that
I
made
a
bee
line
to
New
York
where
I've
lived
in
the
East
Village
ever
since,
showing
my
paintings
and
photos
in
the
galleries,
cafes
and
music
venues
of
the
downtown
scene.
I'm
involved
with
community
gardens
and
activities
surrounding
them,
making
costumes
and
large
puppets
for
parades.
Also
have
been
involved
with
theatrical
groups
both
by
acting
and
performing
with
shadow
puppets.
In
1990
I
started
and
ran
an
art
gallery
in
Manhattan
for
4
years
which
was
an
exciting
experience
until
the
high
rents
put
me
out
of
business.
I
retailed
my
hats
and
jewelry
in
an
outdoor
market
for
10
years
but
am
now
wholesaling
body
jewelry
that
I've
designed
with
the
jewelers
in
Bali.
I've
traveled
extensively
in
Central
America,
Europe
and
Asia
as
well
as
in
the
United
States,
I
have
a
deep
love
of
nature
and
camp
out
every
summer
at
the
Rainbow
Gatherings
and
Burning
Man
festival
and
as
many
hot
springs,
rivers
and
mountains
as
can
be
fit
in.
Being
self-employed
most
of
my
life
has
given
me
the
time
and
freedom
to
paint
and
travel,
to
explore
worlds
both
interior
and
exterior
and
bring
forth
inspiration
into
my
art
and
life.
